Guidelines: query and then send us the story as an MS word attachment or paste it into email. We also accept reprints if they have run in other newspapers, ($25 for these) but don't want multiple or simultaneous submissions.
Submission Needs: Practical articles on alternative travel, unique destinations. Guides, especially written by locals, to intriguing places. Photos crucial, we publish galleries & include sound clips (mp3s). We want to inspire, provide good info.

Submission Needs: Subjects of particular interest to us are national and state parks, historic places, cities, little-known or undiscovered places, train trips, cruises, and driving trips. We do not accept proposals about trips that are subsidized in any way. Check the Traveler index to make sure we have not recently run a piece on the topic you are proposing.
Guidelines: Please include your credentials, relevant published clippings and a SASE to ensure that the requested materials are returned.
Word Length: Most Traveler features range from 1,500 to 2,500 words, depending on the subject. Traveler departments generally run from 750 to 1,500 words.

Description: In addition to publishing books, we like to promote the best travel writing we can find and do so in our Editors' Choice section and elsewhere on our Web site.
Submission Needs: We're looking for personal, nonfiction stories and anecdotes-funny, illuminating, adventurous, frightening, or grim.
Word Length: Length is whatever it takes without being self-indulgent-anything from a paragraph to fifteen pages. Shorter stories have a better chance of being accepted.
Payment: Travelers' Tales offers a $100 honorarium for stories of any length.
