Payment: Upon publication, we pay $150 for a first-run article or $75 for a reprint. If we use it on our website we’ll pay you an additional $50.

Description: We print articles that discuss technical topics in a generic sense, without reference to specific products or companies.

Word Length: of columns/departments ranges from 900 to 1350 words. Length of features ranges from 1200 to 3500 words.
Payment: The author’s fees will be paid to the author of the article at the time the manuscript is accepted for publication.

Description: The following categories are typical of what CM publishes most: Profiles, Informational Articles, News and Exhibition Articles, and Commentary.
Word Length: The average manuscript ranges from 1000 to 3000 words (approximately 4 to 12 pages, typed, double-spaced with ample margins).
Payment: Current rates are 10¢ per printed word and $25 per printed image. An article published in the Comment column receives a flat rate of $75.

Description: Feature Stories: Management Issues, Agencies, Government people, Civil Service Issues. Our Viewpoint column provides a forum for members of our readership to share opinions or experiences. Viewpoint columns express opinions on issues relevant to civil servants.
Word Length: Usually range in length from 1,000 to 2,500 words. Viewpoint columns are usually about 650 words long.
Payment: We pay upon acceptance, which means after you have completed any requested rewriting or additional work to our satisfaction.
Rights: Government Executive holds all rights for publication (including publication on the Internet) and all reprint rights.

Plane&Pilot -
Description: Submit a query letter to the editor ( editors@planeandpilotmag.com). Be sure to include as much detailed information as possible on your idea, the proposed length of the article and the type of photography that you expect to provide. All material, unless previously assigned in writing, is submitted on a speculation basis.
Payment :will be made during the middle of the issue's month in which your article appeared, unless otherwise stated in writing. Rates vary depending on the value of the material as judged by the editors.
Rights: The publisher buys all rights to the material as judged by the editors.
Short Stories by Speech Therapists -
Description: An online short story writers workshop for speech-language pathologists (SLP's).
Guidelines: A character in the story must be an aspiring SLP or an SLP.

Description: We need how-to articles (how to grow, raise, market, build, etc), as well as articles about small farmers who are experiencing success through diversification, specialty/alternative crops and livestock, and direct marketing.
Guidelines: We welcome both completed manuscripts and queries.
Word Length: depending on subject, should be between 800 and 3,000 words (we usually prefer 1200-2600 words). We welcome completed manuscripts and queries.
Payment: Articles: 3.5 cents per word for each word published (see above paragraph). 2 cents per word for each word published for reprinted articles.
Rights: First serial rights and nonexclusive reprint rights.

Description: Whether the issue is staffing, recruitment, compensation, training, motivation or benefits, the Workforce story focuses on corporate employee and employment issues through the prism of senior management. Dealing with issues such as diversity, management, legal issues and implications, outstanding and outrageous performance.
Word Length: Cover stories in the printed magazine run 2,500 to 3,500 words. We also want secondary stories (1,500-2,000 words.
Payment: Fees are negotiated with each writer, depending on the complexity and length of the story. The general range is 75 cents to $1.50 per word.
