AUTUMN POEM—Deadline July 6, 2007 -Short poem having to do with the fall season. Do not exceed 30 lines. Unrhymed or skillfully rhymed (slant rhymes, half rhymes, internal rhymes). Try to avoid "perfect" end rhymes. Entry fee $3. Prizes: $35, $20, $10.
OPENING LINE—Deadline July 19, 2007. Story of 3,000 words or less, any genre that opens with: “The small gift-wrapped package…” Entry fee $5. Prizes: $40, $30, $20.
CONCRETE POEM—Deadline July 20, 2007 -- Poems on any topic which use sound and space. They should draw attention to their appearance on the page. A kind of collage of words.
Word Length: No specific length but be mindful how the poem would look in ByLine's "The Poetic Life" or on a single published page elsewhere.
Payment: Entry fee $3. Prizes: $35, $20, $10.
Arizona Authors Association Awards - Description: AAA requires entries for unpublished poetry, short stories, essays/articles, and novels. Cash prizes of $100 in each category, plus publication, are offered.
